A Horn for Louis (book review)

This suspense story is about Louis who has a poor family. He works at a junkyard for Mr and Mrs Karnofsky. After eating his breakfast over at the junkyard, Alex another boy working at the junkyard and Louis would go around with a trailer to collect junk from people. Louis always brought his tin horn, altough its mouth piece was broken he still could play beautiful music with it. To attrack people to bring sacks of junk, Louis would play a song with his horn. Lots of people would come and give them junk. One day, when Alex and Louis were buying junk, a boy suddenly snatched Louis horn! Then ran through some alley's before reaching a group of seven boys. Louis quickly thought up a clever plan. The older boys were trying to play the horn but all they got was a buzz. Louis told them that they would never be able to play it and asked whether he could show them how to play it. The boys agreed and gave the horn to Louis to show them how to play the horn. But once Louis got the horn back, he quickly ran as fast as he could trying to find Alex. Suddenly Louis heard a call Clothes! Bottles! Old iron! it was Alex, Louis quickly jumped into the back of the trailer to hide in the junk. When the boys reached the trailer, Alex asked what they wanted. The boys just mumbled" nothing." Once the boys finally left, Alex told Louis that the boys were dangerous. When Louis pulled out his horn, he found out that it was broken! He felt very sad. But Alex remindered him that he still had the silver dollar that the rich man had given him. They rode to a pawnshop to buy a horn but the horn costed $25!! The boys tried to bargain with the owner but only managed to bargain till $15. After that Alex asked the shopowner whether he had another cheaper horn

The F15E-Strike Eagle, The F16 Fighting Falcon, The F5 Tiger; just to name a few of the many different types of fighters possessed by the Royal Singapore Air Force. Snaking our way through the bustling crowd, I made my way towards the planes on display, oblivious to my surroundings, my friends, in hot pursuit. Just seeing the nose and cockpit of the plane made me gasp in awe. The aerodynamic body of the plane- perfect for swooping, diving and chasing enemy craft. Armed with machine guns, heat-missiles and sidewinders, the F16 Fighting Falcon was a fearsome sight. This was my favourite plane Singapore possessed. Our trip to Bintan(Indonesia)

Last week, My family and I went to Bintan for a holiday. We boarded the ferry called Aria Bupala ". During the ride, I felt very seasick. I guessed the waves were a little more choppy this time. This is a picture of my brothers and I seating at the top deck of the ferry. When we reached the hotel, daddy went to the reception to check in. Our room numbers were 1037 and 1035. In the room, my brothers and I quickly changed into my swimming shorts so that I could go and swim in the pool immediately! But when we reached the pool, I found out that the pool was not what I had expected because there were no slides, only a basketball net. I felt disappointed. A while later, we decided to head to the beach. The beach was my favourite place because there were so many black-striped fish, mudskippers and lots of crabs swimming in the stream that led out to the sea. An experience: Kayaking

27 Feb 2010 One day, at around 2:30 on a sunny Saturday afternoon, I left with the Rangers for Machrichy Reservoir. I was very excited, for we were not merely going for a hike there, but to kayak in the reservoir! When we finally reached our destination, a lady taught us how to paddle, the kayak. After this, together with my friend, Alton we climbed into a two- seater kayak, my heart thumping with excitement, and paddled out. At first we had trouble turning and hit the bank, but soon enough, we got the hang of it. During one of our voyage, we had spotted an eagle. It was perched high on a tree branch. One of the most frightening time was when the current slowly drifted us away from the border and into the fast flowing currents! As soon as I realised this, I immediately started a frantic paddle, as though my life depended on it. At first it seemed to be hopeless, but bit by bit, we paddled ourselves to safety. This is an experience I would never want to forget.
