"Cheese & Pepper"

PSLE is finally over!

To celebrate, my parents decided to bring me out to have a special dinner at an Italian Restaurant-cacio e pepe. I'm certain you're wondering what the meaning of this restaurant's name is... well, as the title of this post suggests-"Cheese and Pepper"!

This was my first time eating a formal dinner in a restaurant, with an antipasti (appitizer), followed by a main dish and then dessert.

This is what we ate;

(I don't want to sound like a food critic so I'll make it short)

Appetizer

We had Calamari Fritti for our appetizer- fried squid. Normally, I didn't really squid. However, this dish was delectable! I could hardly resist the temptation to take more than I should; leaving no more room in my stomach for the other dishes. It came with a sauce too, that had a sour tinge to it .

Main dish

We tried three different dishes;

-Spaghetti agli Scampi- crayfish served in spicy tomato sauce.

This was my favorite dish, apart from the dessert. Every since I first tried crayfish spaghetti in Swensens, I had an unusual craving for more.

-Tortelli al Tartufo- Stuffed Tortelli served in truffle sauce.

Try guessing what they stuffed the Tortelli with?

Ricotta Cheese!

I'm sure the 'truffle sauce' caught your eye. Well, it did for me. The word 'truffle' sure does refer to the expensive mushroom. At first I thought I would not like the sauce, as I'm not a fan of mushrooms, however this sauce was delicious!

- Pizza Caprese

A thin crust covered with fresh tomato and mozerella cheese, and rocket salad to top it off with a bitter tang. It was different from other pizzas I had tasted in Pizza Hut. Never before had I ate a pizza that had a salad on it. Quite good a combination- sweet tomato, crispy crust, savoury cheese, and bitter rocket salad.

last but not least, (and probably my favorite) was the dessert

By now, I was more or less full. Thankfully, there was enough room in my stomach for the Lava Cake.

As it's name suggests, 'lava' does ooze out of the 'volcano'! My dad did the honours while I took a picture. Using a spoon, he gently made a little cut in the chocolate cake. A wonderful surprise was waiting for us inside...

Gooey chocolate oozed out of the chocolate cake. Using my dessert spoon, I scooped out a teaspoon of the vanilla ice cream, before topping it with a small piece of the cake and goey chocolate. It tasted heavenly. Hot chocolate with cold ice cream- what a pair! Before long, we had licked the plate clean.

After a few moments of savouring the assortment of flavours exploding inside my mouth, we paid the bill, and left the restaurant, in satisfaction.
