A long... tiring... road trip that lasted approximately five hours. Cramped up in the back seat of the car, I was glad when we finally reached our destination.
When I entered the large glass doors of Mariott Hotel, I felt a sudden sense of deja vu. I had in fact come here before, during a previous church camp when I was younger.
We (primary fives- sec 2's) had our own programme. The main theme of the programme was Relentless. Our Pastor (pastor Chris), was full of humour. He managed to instill laughter into the message, and set the whole room roaring. The highlight for me would be the inter- group games. I was a member of group five.
The games were rather fun and interesting. Of course, they required teamwork. I particularly enjoyed the game where we had to use chopsticks to pick up marbles from one cup, and pass it to one another all the way before dropping it into another cup at the end. At first we had difficulty. However, our group leader came up with a brilliant strategy- the criss-cross method. we held our chopsticks parallel to one another. A member who was good with chopsticks picked up a marble from the cup and transferred it to the first person who held the chopsticks parallel to one another. The second person(who held the chopsticks in parallel as well) crossed his chopsticks over the previous person's. Applying a little pressure, the marble would 'pop' onto his pair of chopsticks. This method was so good, that we had finished transferring all the marbles before our time ran out.
Another thing I enjoyed there would be the food. My favourite breakfast would be the one which had eggs, ham, sausages, baked beans. I liked the bread with butter as well. The assortment of desserts throughout the day was too tempting to resist. Tentalising pastries, cakes etc, yum. Dessert nearly became my main course!
Before long, four days had passed. It was time for us to go. On the way back, we stopped by A&W like we did before, several years back with our Cell Group. The ice cream float was refreshing after a long tiring drive.
